Two years, two timezones, and one Future-State Experience Blueprinting course!

--

It took two years for us to travel to the future… and we are finally there! We are beyond thrilled to announce our brand new course on future-state experience blueprinting is now open for pre-enrollment! ✨

Two years ago, Erik and I sat down, two timezones apart, to discuss how we were going to make a high-quality online course separated by thousands of miles. It required re-inventing our whole business from the ground up.

I was super sad when Erik moved out of driving and boba distance, but this didn’t stop our dreaming and creative collaboration. Everything is solvable, and we set out to figure out how to create parity in our AV setups, and a synchronous/asynchronous workflow to support our content production.

The early days… I would wake up early on the weekend to test our AV gear, coast-to-coast…

We spent months experimenting with equipment. Erik would order gear to try on the east coast, and then order me a replica with instructions for set-up. We held many AV test sessions, and spent sync time designing and setting up an efficient workflow with the right digital tools in place to support it. You could say, we blueprinted our production workflow, end-to-end, surface-to-core.

Mapping the curriculum for the future-state course…

This course was going to be big. We had mapped eight modules, and what has ended up becoming over 40 video segments (4 1/2 hours of polished, edited final vides!). This wasn’t something we could just “wing it” for – we needed a coordinated production workflow to ensure synchronicity of content across our book and the course, tie-ins with our other course and templates, worksheets, and examples to support learners.

Getting ready to film videos with Erik on zoom and the script in the teleprompter…

My role was script writer and supervisor, ensuring all content was coordinated, and that our production process and milestones were as efficient as possible.

We scheduled a sprint in January to film the course videos, four days of setting up, testing, and filming in HD, synchronous across our timezones. We leveraged zoom, a teleprompter, exact replicas of all gear at each end, and we recorded live together, all to be edited down in post-production (this is Erik’s wheelhouse).

After months of planning and preparation, our “course making machine” was put to the test, and wow we had fun. 🎢 🎉

Lights… Camera… Action! Filming Future-State Experience Blueprinting course videos!

Fast forward to today, we are extremely excited to launch the presale for our new online course on Future-State Blueprinting, which launches February 1st!

This isn’t your usual online course. Erik and I have put a lot of hard work into making this super practical, by design. The course is packed with handy starter templates, a wide variety of real-world examples, and follow-alongs that help you apply the process end-to-end to your real-world work projects. It even has a textbook to go with it!

We are so excited to get more people across the globe connecting the dots between customer experience and organizational delivery. This is often the missing link that organizations face when trying to create new experiences, and we have spent years developing our practical approach to service blueprinting to do just this.

Learn more about our new course, future-state experience blueprinting, and hope to see you there!
